Italian wine sales increasing again

Sales for Italian wines are eventually increasing. After a limited slowdown in 2013, recently released data about 2014 are showing that things are going back to normal, creating encouraging expectations for 2015.

As far as large retailers are concerned, Chianti and Lambrusco bottles are the easiest to sell, followed by Vermentino, Prosecco, Nero d'Avola, Muller Thurgau and Traminer. Pecorino and Passerina from Marche and Abruzzo regions as well as Inzolia from Sicily are "emerging wines" whose sales are rising even more rapidly.

The positive performance in Italian supermarkets is now pushing producers to explore foreign retailers as well, assuming that a significant margin for increasing sales could be easily found abroad. Vinitaly, the world's top exhibition in the wine sector that will open in Verona next week, is the perfect place where to explore the feasibility of this idea.
