After the Italian Prime Minister
The team is made of three outstanding experts. The first one is Francesco Caio, a veteran in the telecoms business. After some years of experience in telecoms systems at Olivetti in Italy and McKinsey and Co. in London, in 1994 he become the Managing Director of Omnitel Pronto Italia, the first private operator in mobile telephones in Italy and the most successful new GSM operator on the international scene during that period.
In 1997, Caio moved to Merloni Elettrodomestici (today Indesit Company) as Managing Director, where he stayed until April 2000 when, together with other investors, he set up Netscalibur, an internet services provider. In March 2003, he was appointed Managing Director of Cable & Wireless where he supervised a strong restructuring process and the Company's subsequent operating and financial relaunch.
Starting from June 2007, Mr. Caio joined international private consultancies such as Lehman Brothers and Nomura. Finally, in 2011, he was appointed CEO of Avio Group, a leading international company in the aerospace sector.
Mr. Caio's wide experience in the private sector has been precious for various European governments, which relied on his advice in order to elaborate their national telecoms policies: now he is called once again to offer his contribution. The other two experts will be French economics professor Gerard Pogorel and Scott Marcus, former advisor to the U.S. Federal Communications Commission.
