May 23rd 2017 marked the beginning of the first cycle of "Appuntamenti con l'ingegno", a new format launched in Rome and devoted to the creation of a communication bridge between university students, representatives of institutions and protagonists of the Made in Italy fashion industry. Fashion stands out as a great point of strength of Made in Italy in the world. Therefore, it should be better analysed and promoted in the most effective way.
The first meeting was attended by relevant personalities of the national political scene - such as Carlo Calenda, Minister of the Economic Development - as well as representatives of important brands of Italian Fashion: Nicola Bulgari and Brunello Cucinelli.
LUISS University has been a great protagonist of this event since it stands out as an excellent hub of knowledge offering a specific master course in Luxury, Fashion and Made in Italy, with the chance of obtaining a double degree studying in Europe and China. The University has strongly supported the initiative of hosting regular meetings fostering major connections between students and the job market. On this subject, Paola Severino - LUISS Dean - has commented on the event "Appuntamenti con l'ingegno" stating "fashion, as well as food and artistic beauties, represent the emblems of Italian economic system abroad and they need to be carefully examined".
Also Emma Marcegaglia - LUISS President - has stressed the need to foster the connections between universities, institutions and companies in the fashion field, in order to keep the industry productive by identifying new models and paths to be undertaken to face global competition.
"Appuntamenti con l'ingegno" were also promoted by Comitato Leonardo, a committee that was launched in 1993 by a group of entrepreneurs willing to promote Made in Italy abroad. Today, the Comitato counts 28 companies affiliated in the fashion industry, which have been able to produce over 23 billion euros, with an abroad share worth 80% of the total turnover. Luisa Todini - President of Comitato Leonardo - believes in the need to make Made in Italy fashion more and more competitive, identifying one key factor: communication among all the relevant actors through regular meetings.
