The World's Best Journeys list for 2018 was created by a collaboration between Flight Network, a leading online tour operator, and an extensive network of travel journalists, agencies, bloggers, and editors.

The new list is made of astonishing journeys, meant to captivate and inspire travelers from all over the world. In the top 20 destinations, there are three marvelous locations in Italy.

The first one is the Italian countryside around the area of Lucca. The suggested trip starts from Pisa's airport, and proceeds to explore one of the most beautiful regions in Italy: Tuscany, famed for its jaw-dropping beauty and high culture.

World-renowned wines, a rich cultural history, and stunning landscapes are what you can expect driving along the surroundings of Lucca, and stopping to see all of the hidden treasures along the way: picturesque country towns and quaint villages, dramatic medieval houses and elegant Renaissance palaces, green hills and panoramic views.

A second suggestion is the Amalfi Coast, perhaps the most beautiful 30-mile drive on the planet, with cliffs plunging to the sea, lemon groves high above, and historic Italian villages with great food and spectacular views. The scenic, narrow road connecting Sorrento and Amalfi weaves along breathtaking beaches, cliffside villages, dramatic mountains and more. The scenery is very different than Tuscany's, as the landscape is marked by one of the most glorious coasts in the world, rather than the tranquil countryside of the previous proposal. Moreover, the suggested itinerary ends with a refreshing swim in the sea.

Flight Network's third proposal is an intimate hike through the towns of Cinque Terre. Four trails connect the five villages of Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza, and Monterosso and hug the coast, allowing you to savor the ocean vistas and famed multicolour architecture. The trek can be completed in about 6-hours, or spread out over a few days. It is an historic walk visited by 2 million tourists each year.
