For the first time in the history of Maserati, the iconic Italian luxury car became the star of the 48th edition of the "Big Game", the Super Bowl, the National Football League championship final. During the match, "Strike", the spot for the new Maserati Ghibli, was given its first showing in front of 110 million viewers.

The spot talked about hard work, carried out with skill, commitment and dedication, and it introduced Maserati's exclusive sports sedan to the general public in America and worldwide. Directed by the American director David Gordon Green and shot in Los Angeles, the spot is a homage to all the people who have worked to design and build an extraordinary car with a strong personality, capable of taking on the giants of the automotive world.

Nobody can deny that "every Maserati is like a work of art, its perfection expressing the marque's proud history: unmistakable styling and technological innovation [...] Maserati means passion, dedication and the eternal quest for perfection. It is also a key part of Italy's long and illustrious automotive tradition. A combination of Italian craftsmanship and groundbreaking technology creates car in which performance can be experienced to the full for the ultimate in motoring pleasure".

However, among Maserati cars Ghibli is really special. It is a masterpiece of design, able to emphasize both sportiness and elegance. "Just like the first Ghibli of 1967 that was designed by a young Giorgetto Giugiaro, its graceful lines and perfect proportions make an immediate statement of style, sophistication and effortless power."

As Super Bowl-related websites stressed, this unexpected campaign "blew the doors off of everybody, mostly because car nuts weren't expecting it and most Americans hadn't heard of it. But after that one ad, everybody's now looking up Maserati's entry offering". Confirming one more time the great reputation of Italian cars.
